That only applies to transfers within the same free zone. In the case of Free Zones the FZ Authority (administration) company is the sponsor of your labour card, not your employer. So technically if you move from one employer to another within the same FZ you have not changed labour sponsor - and as...

It’s not always easy to look at some of these issues as simply black and white, particularly in the UAE. It’s easy to say, “Screw the employer he’s a toss I’m not going to take it; I’m looking for another job”. Most of those affected by decisions like this are the people who are at the bottom of the...

Thanks for the reply dxbsoul!!! It looks like there is a big risk to be taken if one were to refer his/her case to the Dept of Labour. The decision may or not work out in one's favour. 100% true. In some cases, if you end up having taken you employer through the labour courts you are actually banned...

Yes. You need to word a nice reply asking them to provide you with an offer. As you are not resident in the country, it is very unfair for employers to do this as they must know that you would not have any idea about the living expenses one needs to live in Dubai. I would suggest something along the...

The issue is do you want to leave your current sponsor or not? You don’t specify this… In most cases if the contract draws to a close and both parties wish the situation to remain a new contract is entered into. 1a. Normally yes, the Labour contract will run concurrently with the Residency Visa whic...

Strictly speaking and according to the law you would be banned for 6 months. I would however, take the termination letter with you and pay a visit to the Labour Department. I think that you would have to get permission from the LD in this instance. According to the current law it would not matter if...

Married women and unmarried women on their father’s residency sponsorship can work as long as they have a valid labour card issued to them by their employer. Many employers prefer to have women in such situations work for them under their (the companies) residency sponsorship as it is cheaper. The s...

ROUND 2: Due to the current situation I decided to continue my contract with my current Employer. So I’ll just wait for my contract to end and renew my contract soon. My questions are: 3. The problem is that without knowing anything about the particular business that you are to head up it is impossible to give you much help in this regard. As you say the company is a large concern, but that doesn't mean that all their business dealings are. The company in question runs each business ...

There is a very rough "rule of thumb", they normally mark things up by at least 300% (sometimes much more). Divide the asking price by 3 and start there, you'll normally get a long storey about how his kids will starve and the landlord will come and take his house away - good entertainment...

Re: The Ultimate Dubai BAN Guide

Nice reply above, thanks Radeya. I have confirmed that the above posting is actually still in affect. Once your contract is lodged with the MOL, you are still subject to the ban even if you are still within your probation period, with the above exclusions in place to have the ban lifted.
