Prominent airlines in the region – Emirates airlines, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways – are looking to hire cabin crew members to serve their increasing number of flights and passengers flying on different routes.
Emirates Airlines is looking to hold recruitment days to hire cabin crew members and the hiring drive is to take place in several cities across the world.
Some of these cabin crew recruitment days are very close to the day of hiring but you can still try your luck. Hiring will take place in Boston and Belgrade on the 26th of this month and in Mauritius the next day (April 27, 2014).
Etihad Airways will be hiring in the South African city of Cape Town on May 6, 2014. People interested in attending the recruitment day and joining the airline’s team of cabin crew, food and beverage managers, and qualified inflight chefs, should register in advance by visiting www.etihad.com/careers/cabin.
Nearly 243 South African nationals currently work for Etihad Airways, including 107 core staff, 120 cabin crew and 16 pilots.
Qatar Airways is also looking for cabin crew members and will be recruiting in Sofia on May 3, 2014. Similar recruitment events will take place in Bratislava and Lisbon on the same days.
Benefits vary from one airline to another.
Broadly, at Emirates, the pay package includes the fixed monthly cash payment (related to the position and based on the knowledge and competencies of the individual).
Besides this, Emirates provides shared cabin crew accommodation with own bedroom. Profit sharing schemes, exchange rate protection scheme, professional specialist allowances also make up a part of the package. However, these benefits depend upon the role and/or applicant’s unique personal circumstance.
Transportation to and from the airport and other standard non-cash elements like annual leave, leave tickets, end of service gratuity, medical and insurance form a part of the package. On leaving the company, an employee is entitled to an end of service gratuity or provident scheme payment, whichever is higher.
Education support allowance is given to staff in more senior positions and eligible UAE National and GCC citizens are enrolled into their respective government pension scheme, with employee and company contributions payable.
Etihad Airlines also promises to offer a “fantastic tax-free salary which is competitive within the industry and reviewed on a regular basis.”
Besides this, free accommodation is provided in a modern shared fully-furnished apartment, with your own private facilities. “Everything is provided for you to ensure that you have a safe, secure and comfortable home in Abu Dhabi,” mentions the airline.
Transportation from accommodation to the airport for flight duties is given and then to bring you back home again after your flight.
The cabin crew members have access to Etihad swimming pools, health clubs and fitness centres at no cost, and reduced rate massage, hairdressing and beauty treatments to keep you looking your best.
Leading airline travel benefits include unlimited personal travel at special rates, an annual leave ticket and generous concessions for family and friends to use. Free private medical insurance and life/accident insurance is also included.
Employees will also be entitled to an annual leave of 30 days besides the special discounts at restaurants, shops, hotels and leisure facilities across the United Arab Emirates and the region.
According to various sources, salaries for cabin crew members at Qatar Airways consists of competitive tax-free salary, fully furnished, shared accommodation with private bedroom, welcome bonus, three-year open-ended contract, meal allowances while on duty, transport while on duty, comprehensive medical insurance, life insurance and travel benefits on Qatar Airways and partner airlines.
