I am from Europe too, and I can understand the problem you faced. My Curriculum Vitae was also made as per the formats popular here in Germany. However, they are no good in Dubai, UAE or elsewhere in the Middle East.

I had a look on eLance just now, and there are quite a few freelancers in Dubai if you search under "resume" (not so many under "CV"), and I'm sure there would be even more if you expanded the results to include all countries.
