Dubai International Airport (DIA) has been voted the world’s best by readers of the acclaimed Conde Nast Traveller magazine – for the third time.
Alongside this, Dubai Duty Free was also voted the world’s best – confirming it as the finest for retail therapy.
“We strive to provide nothing but the best for all our passengers and customers. This award is the recognition of all the hard work and efforts put in by all our service providers and staff to provide excellent service to passengers,” said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group.
In the ninth Readers’ Travel Awards, DIA polled 89.67 per cent of favourable votes, beating closest rivals Hong Kong International and Changi Singapore. Of this number a huge 92.79 per cent of the respondents cited cleanliness at DIA as a reason for their choice, with 90.67 per cent attributing their preference to the design and layout.
Meanwhile, Dubai Duty Free scored a whopping 92.12 per cent votes to claim its title.
The survey was carried out by inserting questionnaires in the May issue of the magazine, as well as posting the questionnaires online.
The criteria on which the poll queried the readers for the airport category revolved around location, accessibility, design, layout, cleanliness, check-in efficiency, efficiency of transfers, flight information, clarity of signs, pre-flight facilities, lounges, food, restaurants, shopping, duty free facilities, and parking facilities.
