Responsible for supporting Manulife Financial, Investment Division’s overall Production Support environment, Front, Middle and Back Office Systems and Applications. Technology infrastructure liaison with outsource business partner. Leading a team of 50 Business and Systems Analyst, conduct application break-fix, enhancements and front line support.
• Provided system integration following Manulife’s take over of John Hancock Financial and Maritime Life. Managed large scale integration projects to move JH and MAC Investments assets onto Manulife systems. Led a team of 40 senior business and systems analysts and infrastructure technical staff on projects involving Front office trading and analytic applications and Back Office accounting, securities administration and settlements functions.
• Directed work to certify applications for Sarbanes-Oxley Section-404 controls. Completed control templates for IT Access Controls, Application Development and Change Management Controls and IT Environment Controls.

UBS WARBURG, Toronto 1994 - 2002
Vice President, Information Technology
Responsible for UBS Warburg, a subsidiary of UBS (Union Bank of Switzerland) AG, overall technology requirements including Network Management, Trading and Business application support, Telecommunications and Data communications needs. Liaise with exchanges, market data providers, software vendors and consultants for support and upgrades. Directly deal with all hardware vendors and suppliers of Telecom, Data network, servers and workstation products.
Projects completed:
• Implemented a securities and portfolio Risk Management system within UBSWs Pro-trading, Liability and Arbitrage trading environment. Taking the inventory feeds from ISM’s overnight batch a Risk Management system was designed and implemented. Raw data from ISM’s feed was captured onto an AS/400 and processed to generate Inventory positions reports, daily and monthly profits/loss calculations, risk/exposures on long inventory positions. This allowed the trading desk to analyse their exposures before market open and cover their positions.
• Upgraded the UBS Warburg telecommunications environment. It involved upgrading existing Nortel Option-11 SL1 switches in and Toronto and branch locations in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. The project also involved integrating the PBX environment to the Trading floor IPC turret systems. Researched the latest products and software releases from various vendors and the final selection was made with Bell Canada/Nortel switches and IPC’s Alliance turret systems.
• Upgraded UBS Warburg’s Canadian data network between the head office in Toronto and the branch offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. The project involved upgrading the data network from 512KB dedicated circuits to T1 connections. The Canadian network is also liked via multiple T1 connections across the border to UBS Warburg’s US operations in Stamford, CT and the Global UBS environment. The project also required upgrading the Routers, Switches/Hubs, encryption devices etc. to comply with the enhanced data speeds.
• Worked on a project of upgrading UBSW’s entire technology environment to be compliant with the UBSW global standards. This involved all server and workstation hardware and software. Migration of the network operating system from Novell to Windows NT and extending communication links among offices in Canada and US.
• Implemented UBSW’s global applications at BW, which allows the business area to communicate with offices around the globe.
• Worked on the Year 2000 project as a project manager to insure UBSW’s technology and entire business environment is millennium complaint. This involves testing of internal applications and conducting point-to-point testing with external information and service providers.
CIBC WOOD GUNDY, Toronto, ON 1992 -1994
Senior Manager Fixed Income Technology
• Interfacing directly with end-users to assess their requirements and translate these into functional applications. Provide a bridge between Wood Gundy Fixed Income Trading desk and CIBC’s Technology group for systems and applications development and support.
• Primary Technology support for Wood Gundy’s Fixed Income Trading Floor. Responsible for smooth functioning of all applications and hardware on a NOVELL network linking servers in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, New York and London
• Responsible for supporting ComputeChan's SUPER COUPON SYSTEM, a STRIPS BONDS trading application both in Toronto and a stand-alone system in Montreal. Keeping a direct liaison with the vendor for product support, upgrades and modifications.
• Was responsible for setting up a separate, stand-alone Super Coupon system in Montreal. This required setting up all the hardware including the server and network and installation of the application.
• Established a Fixed Income WAN using Novell's LINK-64 product to connect Montreal, Vancouver and New York offices.
