Need your advice.Work in dubai as web developer Aug 06, 2008
Pinoy guys in Dubai, I just wana have an advice from you, this is the scenario.
I am web developer here in Philippines 23yrs old with 2yrs experience in my career. If I rate myself from 1-10 and 10 is the highest maybe I rank 7. Im earning a gross of almost 37k/month included sidelines. And I can say I am in a good employer now here in Phils. And Im also a Microsoft Cert. Professional
-But-
The employer from Dubai offers me P65,000 to become part of his startup company (magazine publishing company). They like me very much because I'd also worked in number magazine here in Philippines as a web developer too.

Here is my question? In my work status, earnings, age, and profession, Do you think his offer is not bad for me to work in Dubai and leave my love one (girlfriend) here in Philippines?

Thanks. god bless.

Hi there, I'd like to offer this advice, or get you to check the following:

Find out where the start up company is registered, the best would be if it were run out of a Free Zone. This means that if things didn't work out with your employer you could simply move to another one without being banned.

I hate to tell you this but there are literally hundreds of magazines published in the UAE, the downside is that there is a very small buying population for magazines (even the major publication titles only run to about 30,000 units per month!)– this results in many of them going bust in the first 3 or 4 months!

How much money is he offering in Dirham or Dollars, you can't make a direct comparison to what you are currently earning as opposed to what he is offering as you have to factor the cost of living in Dubai into the equation.

It’s difficult to make a full comparison without knowing your exact circumstances. What does P75,000 equate to in Dirhams?

Hi there, no I’m not familiar with the company.

6,500 Dirham is not very much, especially as you will probably end up having to pay about 2,500 - 3,000 per month for shared accommodation (single room in an apartment), as well as having to pay for your transport to and from work (depending on where the job is this could easily run to 1,500 per month), and on top of that eating and other living expenses...

Emirates neon is a pretty big establishment when it comes to sinages. never knew they were in publication as well. But 6500 without accommodation is pretty less unless you have a place to put up already aligned.

Like dxb rightly pointed out it would take away most of your salary apart from traveling and your daily expenses. what are you going to save at the end of the day?
