Hiya
Have just been offered a package as a Marketing Manager for a large global company in Dubai.
AED 18K in total (11K base, 4K accomm and 2K transport)
I am Aussie with 7 years expereince and will be heading up a new department.
Does this seem about right for my industry and experience?
I would really appreciate some local advice!

you are correct, the salary for this position and at level of experience (also taking into account the prominence of the employer) should be at least double what they are offering you.

my suggestion would be:

basic 20,000 - 25,000 pm
accom 7,500 - 10,000 pm
vehicle 3,000 - 4,500 pm

It could be that they want you to haggle a bit; this is a very common practice there. Possibly go back to them with a counter offer, which you can justify, quiet easily with research into the cost of living in Dubai etc.

But counter with way above what you are wanting to settle on (possibly take their offer and multiply it by three), that way it gives you both room to manoeuvre and come to a compromise
