to be quiet blunt most of the "job agents" in dubai are a waste of time, as are using many of the web-sites that offer "gaurenteed placement" in the uae. all basically want to take a service fee from you for processing your papers.
legally, uae employers are obliged to pay all recruitment and processing costs of incomming employees. most of the time the agencies take advantage of the fact the prospective employees are desperate for work or do not know the legal aspects surrounding employment.
there are some genuine agents out there, on one of the forums there is a "sticky" near the top of the page detailing agents and in some cases the have a testimoneal from a forum member.
many companies simpley place an advert in the paper or on their website, this is cheaper than paying an agent commision!!!!
be prepared when you come to dubai, bring your original qualification documents with you, this will save you some time with the attestation process shoud you have a sucessful interview. make sure your cv is up-to-date and has a local (uae) contact number on it or relevant email address. as i said many companies will place an advertisment in the paper and simply hold open interview sessions. they then shortlist the candidates according to thier requirements and call them back for a second interview... the process varies though depending on the position you are applying for ... for example they wouldn't hold open interviews for architects! secretaries yes, architects no...
good luck - it's a jungle out there!!!!!
