Dubai Ecology or Public Health Jobs Jul 28, 2007
I'll be graduating from a college in the US soon and Dubai has been calling me for a couple of years now.

My background is primarily in Tribal cultural resource management and shellfish ecology. Because the Tribal CRM doesn't really apply in Dubai, I'd like to do something involving marine ecology or HIV prevention. As far as the HIV prevention goes, working for a nonprofit or health agency doing education or patient advocacy would be ideal.

Can anyone tell me about the support for HIV prevention programs in the area? How about commitments to environmental protection or marine habitat expansion?

Any information is appreciated.

Yes, I've read there is a very low incidence (around 700 infected nationals) in UAE because of their testing procedures and expulsion of non-nationals who are or become infected. However, I'm also aware the Government has begun to raise awareness of this issue and others like breast cancer through media campaigns. As we've seen in the rest of the world, it only takes one infected individual to produce a pandemic within a few years. The government recognizes this, and it is their developing education, prevention and treatment procedures that I would be interested in contributing to.
