Dress Code

Hi all!

it's me again!....another stupid question from me :oops: . hope you can help me out. just want to know if offices in dubai require any dress code?...can women wear skirts, how long/short is allowed. in dubai itself, what kind of clothing is appropriate? like when going to the market, malls, etc ....on a regular day. so sorry for being so ignorant. im just preparing myself.

there is no "set standard" for dress codes. Dubai is quiet liberal in this respect, however bear in mind that it is a Muslim country and you may have business dealings with Muslim people, if you are dressed to liberally they could find it offensive.

Start off conservatively, wear a pant-suit, and see what others in the office are wearing, use this as a guideline, as a precaution don't wear skirts above the knee to work. In sharjah, you can be arrested or fined if your skirt is shorter than 2 inches below the knee!

malls and public areas are pretty liberal, and very similar to what you would find in any european country
