Nahhhh....after my one and only venture off road (which you know about), i've left it alone for safety's sake, as i don't know anyone else who would go with me!
I have manage a few little detours off the Al Madam to Fossil Rock road, behind the mountains for a few pictures with family and friends, but i could probably have managed that in a car!

Doesn't help that my fiancee (soon to be wife) isn't exaclty the off-road type. She gets in a state if i cross some sand to bypass a traffic jam in the Greens, let alone cross any decent stretch of desert!

Anyways here is an idea, book the two of you for a desert safari with one of the proper tour companies here. I've seen many desert gnostics become desert converts after they have actualy had a taste of the dunes.
