Dear all,

i was recently involved in a DUI and i had a minor accident which did led to the involvement of the police. After 3 days jail time and 15.000 AED fine, i was released and my case was closed. The judge stated the fine and a 3 month license suspension.

My rental car is parked somewhere in Dubai and my license is being withheld by the police. I have no black points at the moment, even though the various forums say, that DUI mean 24 black points and according to the Dubai law, 24 black points mean 1 year license suspension.

So this is my question: what is the procedure for this kind of events?
- How long will my license be suspended for? 1 year or 3 months?
- What about my car? The judge never mentioned my car should be impounded...
- Who gives the final green light for releasing the drivers license? And specially, when?
