Users of blocked web site www.piczo.com will have something to cheer about after Etisalat announced last night that it would unblock the site. In a statement to 7DAYS, Etisalat said that the site was temporarily blocked by the automatic proxy filter due to an error in categorising the site, and that it would be unblocked “soon”.
However, the site was still unavailable last night. “Etisalat may resort to blocking select portions of the website in the future in case there is any offensive content which conflicts with the guidelines set by the authorities,” said Abdulla Hashim, assistant GM, eCompany, Etisalat.
Dozens of Internet users complained to 7DAYS after Etisalat blocked the popular photo-sharing site. Surfers who use piczo.com to make their own websites were furious since their personal pages were also blocked.
