Hiya
I have stumbled across these forums and I hope you can help. I am planning on coming to Dubai in January for my 40th birthday. I will be travelling alone as I'm single and am a bit worried about being hassled because i'm on my own. This holiday will be a special treat to myself as I've been through some rough times over the years and I will be leaving my 3 young daughters in the UK with their dad for 5 days. I suppose I want a bit of advice as to where to stay? I want somewhere that has a pool and a restaurant, somewhere comfortable and slightly luxurious will be nice but I don't really want to spend more than £100 UKPounds per night. I would like to go shopping but am a bit nervous of going out alone!
Any tips or anyone want to be my buddy?!!

Welcome to the forum.

Being alone should not be a problem at all .. Dubai is a safe city. I can recommend this hotel:

http://www.novotel.com/novotel/fichehot ... otel.shtml

it is in a good location, has all what you want (Pool, Restuarants, bars..) and is within your budget. Just make sure you book early since hotels in January fill up real quick.

good luck !!

just a follow up on the last posting, your visit will be during dubai shopping festival, while shopping is cheap, hotel rooms are expensive and accomodation is tight - i'd suggest making your booking asap.

dsf will actually run through december this year as well as january. as it was cancelled during january this year the organisers have allowed the participants who had paid thier fees to hold the festival over december as "compensation"
