Job market in UAE - IT profession Aug 24, 2006
Hello all,
I am an Indian resident looking for an IT job in UAE. To achieve this I am planning a visit to Dubai in the month of December.
I am just trying to clarify some issues before landing there.

Is UAE an open market for employees like India is? What is mean is can employees hop jobs? Or you are tied to an employer? I can understand about contract type of employment in which an employee is contractually obliged. Does the same apply to an employee who is on permament rolls?

I have registered my CV with Monster Gulf, Naukri Gulf, Jobs in Dubai :( (no luck so far with them) etc. Which is the best approach for seeking employment in UAE?

Last but not the least can anyone guide regarding the groundwork that I should do before coming over to Dubai? I plan to be in Dubai for approximately 45 days.

Please excuse me if these question have already been asked before.
Look forward to read the replies.

Thanks,
Hiren

Post your CV on Job Portal Aug 25, 2006
Hello

My best suggestion is to post your CV in one of the popular job portals, this would increase the visibility as well as help the recruiters contact you directly.

NaukriGulf.com is one of the good sites I have come across for searching Jobs in Middle East.

All the best for your Job

Hiren,

The best solution would be to come here and apply. If you read through numerous postings on here it will calrify that most of the employers look forward to a face to face interview with a person they are hiring.

For job hopping it depends but usually one has to stay with his current employer atleast for a year if on his employment visa. After that if he needs to switch jobs he has to get a NOC from him. also there are certain classifications in this case i think i had read about it somewhere but am not able to lay my hand on it. It depends on your qualifications how often you are allowed to switch jobs. If you try to switch jobs in between you will most probably get a 6 months ban.

when here use gulf news appointments, classifieds and khaleej times to apply.

the popular recruitment agencies here are bayt.com, clarendon parker, SOS recruitment, soundlines recruitment, BAC middle east.

good luck with your search.

cheers,

Hi Jerry,
Thanks a lot for your input. I will be doing just what you suggested.
I will be coming over to Dubai for a month and a half in December.

The reason i had asked about job hopping was I had read somewhere that if you have a job in the internet city you are a free agent of sorts and can hop jobs. I can be wrong though. I am aware of the NOC procedure. A very good friend of mine was banned for 6 months.

Hope something fruitful materialises then.

Warm regards,
Hiren
