Ok having a rant ....

Seriously thought nothing seems to happen at any speed.

I originally applied for the position last September last year was told they were interested and wouold get back to me. So I heard from them in May this year. Did numerous interviews etc offered the position ... then contacted by another department of the same comapny and offered another position. Negotiated and accepted the position in concept.

Now they want me to sign me my contract before they fly me up for two weeks orientation and visa etc ... then back to NZ for a month before the big move .... but they have taken about 1 month to get a contract together .... all the while they are short staffed.

So anyway is everything this slow in dubai? Is this normal??

well considering the restructuring they have done and that they have 8 out of 300 employees so far I dont think they have an HR department

The slowness of it all gets you down actually. I'm the sort of person who likes to make a decision and then get on with it. It might take me a while to decide, but once I have its all systems go!!

Everything seems to take forever in the UAE, then bing, everything seems to come through over night. But it's certainly frustrating at the best of times.

It took me 3 weeks from first interview to my arrival in Dubai. Freezones are a lot easier as the visa process is not as lengthy.

Having said that, it took a friend of mine 2 months. It varies depending on the efficiency of the HR department as well.

AJB, Summer is also the worst time.. everyone is on vacation and no one wants to work. Ramadan is another time where things slow down alot too.

Dubai is lightning fast compared to Saudi ..
