Emirati Cuisine? Jul 17, 2006
I do not know about you guys and please correct me if I am wrong, but there is no single Emirati Cuisine restaurant, I have been here for not that long, almost 4 months and I have tried every Cuisine you might think of, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Iranian, Syrian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Yemeni, Japanese, Italian, French, etc…

What do locals used to eat before expats showed up? I mean don’t they have some kind of traditional meals or recipes? Of course rather than the Kabssah stuff (I am not quite sure about the spelling) which is common in all the GCC countries…so help me out here guys, I wanna “Taste” the Emirates.. :D

The only local gulf food i've heard of is rice in a sheeps stomach, "Machboos" or "Harfy" depending on type of rice.

there is a thread about local food:

Timeout Restuarant guide does have a few recommendations where to get the local food, but i think the best place is to be invited to a local home .. you cant beat that.

check out www.timeoutdubai.com and look under UAE cuisine i am sure you will find some stuff.
