Monthly costs for car Jun 28, 2006
Hi there,

i will probably be moving to Dubai soon.
I sure that i need a car there and i'm planning to buy one.

Can you tell me how this costs me per month? I mean the costs for insurance, registration...

I'm thinking of a Toyota Echo or similar.

How much does it cost for a SUV like Ford Explorer or similar.

Thanks,
Sebastian

Insurance = approx 4-4.5% of the value you pay for the car. For a sports car, you will pay 6-7% of the value. If you have No claims from UK, or wherever, then make sure you have letters confirming this.
Registration = first registration is approx Dhs500, therafter, each year is around Dhs350-400.

I cannot remember the website, but try and google 4x4 motors in Dubai. They have a pretty decent website with prices of cars.

Renting a Toyota Echo or similar will set you back approx Dhs1300-1400 per month for a long term lease, but be prepared to get run off the road by the SUV's! hahahahahaahaha.

If for your wife/gf, then I would suggest a far bigger car.

Used to rent a Lancer.... Never owned one.

Though in Canada, the Lancers are noit at all like the ones here.... They can cost upwards of $28k in Canada for a top of the line Lancer. Most of the ncie cars in the West are sh!tboxes here.

The Echo though was and remains an internationally acclaimed peice of sh!t.

The 4-4.5% are per year, right?

yes, the %'s are per year. Really depends on what car you have. 4x4/sedans etc are around that mark, sports cars are more.
