An earthquake apparently hit the country, all skyscrapers in SZR have been evacuated. I reaally hope this is not a prank played on me by one of my mates though

damn.........any damage? the buidlings arent structurally so strong there.......i read an article some months a go where reasearchers said UAE wasnt in fault zone so the probability of earthquake was low

are you sure it was an earthquake and not GM unveiling its new Hummer?

This is the second one we have had this year. They are minor aftershocks from the epicentre in Iran, where the fault line really is.

All it did to some parts of the city was shut down the power for an hour or so. The last one was so minor that many people (myself included) didn't even notice it until the building was being evacuated!

When the crytal palaces start crumbling around our ears, then we should worry.

The higher up you are the more you feel it due to structural swaying. I live in a villa, so I don't really feel such minor things. Unless the big one hits then I'd rish I was in a tent in the desert....

I felt it- I was on Pc and the whole building wobbled, my chair wobbled and the water sloshed in the toilets- thought I was going nuts until I read breaking news on net about an hour later.
Really strange feeling!
