Sound advice
Don't drink, eat, chew or smoke while you're on the phone. Even though they can't see you, they can hear you. Especially when you think they can't.
Clear a space on the table with pen and spare and paper by the phone. Have your CV and application letter in front of you plus any notes on the company/job.
Think of the most unlikely (realistic) thing that could happen when you have a phone interview and expect it. Prepare accordingly. I don't mean things like lightning strikes - that would be really unlikely and you can go overboard on preparations. I mean things like interruptions from family/friends/other phones/neighbours lawnmower/door to door salesmen/loud music from BBQ next door.
If you're on a mobile, charge it.
Try not to say gidday, yesbut, basically, sweet, yeah no worries, or aye? too much. Unless you're talking to another kiwi (I'm assuming you're a kiwi because of your location).
Find something relaxing to do when you're waiting for the call - read a book or something.
Good luck.
