I have a feeling that its not possible, due to the initial programming of the forum - you can ask, but thats probably gonna be your answer!!

Alternatively, reduce your picture so it will fit into the avatar size? Some people have managed that (Constantine and Wafaey for sure)

Interesting to note that both of those individuals have now removed their own faces from their Avatars!! Also, Chocs had a picture of herself as her avatar for about 3 days before Arnie instigated his "Bring back Choc's tiger" campaign!
