Definitely a must have gadget but have to admit DO NOT KNOW much 'bout it. Thinking of purchasing one this weekend but have loads of questions!

What is the best brand or make to buy (Garmin, Tomtom, Sony)?
Where is the best shop to buy this? Carrefour MOE is sellling GPS. Anywhere else?
If I purchase in Dubai, can I use it when we go to UK or Singapore, etc?
Are there different types of GPS car?
Other infos I should need to know in buying GPS car

What we need is something of a navigator. User friendly and has a reasonable price.

Help please. Would appreciate it. Please share your thoughts on this before we rush in buying one.

I have the ONLY available software available in the UAE. Tom Tom does not exist.

Zooter, you can just buy the SD card with the map and nav software installed. I use it on my Acer PDA

Looks pretty good, very similar to the TomTom I've got for my pda here in the UK. I hope it doesn't do what that does though - make the PDA crash and restart just when you are getting to a critical part of the journey in the middle of a strange town!!
