Spouse Visa in UAE Oct 24, 2013
Hi all,

Can you please advice me on the spouse visa policy for UAE (such as minimum salary, rental agreements)? Also, if my workplace is in Sharjah is there any website (government portal) for Sharjah stating the policies?

Looking forward,

thanks and BR

When i set up my spouse visa in Dubai, the only requirement was showing the marriage certificate, which had to be notarized and attested. I don't even think that took a copy for the file, they simply looked at it to confirm the marriage was real. The last names on both passports were the same which helped btw..

A husband may sponsor his wife’s residency in the UAE only if his total earnings amount to AED 4000 per month or more. If the husband is the sole provider in the family then he should make all the necessary applications for a spousal visa.
A wife may sponsor her husband if she is employed as a doctor; engineer or teacher and she should be earning more than AED5000 per month. However, there have been conflicting reports in the media with regards to a wife sponsors employment stating that if she is employed in a similar field to the ones mentioned above and has a salary of AED 10 000 or more the UAE government may consider allowing her to sponsor the husband.

The list of documents you will need according to the official website is as follows, but most expats find they have to make at least 2 trips to the DNRD because additional document requirements are flagged up all the time – just apply patience to the entire situation and you’ll cope well: -
An application form (you can get this from the DNRD typing office)
4 passport photographs of every family member to be sponsored

Original entry permits (likely to be visit or tourism visas)

Everyone’s passports

Medical certificates for spouse and sponsored children over the age of 18

Copy of the sponsor’s salary certificate/contract of employment

Copy of the sponsor’s residency visa

Copy of the sponsor’s e-gate card

Marriage certificate/birth certificatess

My wife and kid came here last week. Now thinking of their medical and residence visa stamp on passport. The required documents were tenancy contract, marriage certificate, baby's birth certificate and passports. That's it
