i have been flashed from Dubai mall to hatta direction via fly over after the big curve. For some "horse" reasons the speed limit is 60. i was passing at 2am in the morning with nobody on the road so i think when i saw the flash i was on 130...... now i am so worry and scared...... the consequences are serious if that indeed a speed camera..... please i need guidance. ......

You describe the road as 'the big curve'. I think that's your answer to why the speed limit is 60. You were doing twice the legal limit? That would be a ban where I come from. Not sure about Dubai. I have been caught speeding in Dubai and been fined but I wasn't doing anything like twice the limit.

Going above 120 esp on flyover is a serious issue. Not sure if speed camera would give the accurate speed of his/her car, but if police finds out, chances are they may confiscate his/her driving licence.

thanks for your kind reply, but i was hopeing someone who knows the area can give me some help. that is after the curve - during the curve the speed limit is 40 which i was almost 35 - well i am always careful driving. After the curve that is highway the only reason they give a speed limit is because they near a horse reacing place that maybe maybe some horses would pass by - but since 2 years i havnt seen any and last night it was 2am, was nobody and i never saw that thing flashed...... thats why i went fast......

By the way if i drive 120 during the curve i would be dead already!!! haha......

Driving at that speed near livestock is just stupid! It doesnt matter that you havent seen horses for a while. If you hit an animal at that speed it would be carnage. For Gods sake slow down!!!

Just as considerate as you eh? Driving at stupid speeds on public roads and feeling sorry for yourself. Man up! If you do the crime, do the time.

I'm going to be blunt here, if you broke the speed limit anywhere and you were flashed, you wll pay a fine. No doubt about it.

Yes indeed this is a Police Radar / Speed Camera. Doing double the legal speed limit will attract a hefty fine and possible vehicle conviscation. And to be honest, your foot was on the pedal.

Check out online, now its easy to figure out your fines.

I heard from a cab driver , the max speed limit of sheikh zayad road reduced to 110KPH , I mean going above it you will be flashed, does anyone else heard anything like that.

To be honest this rumour has been doing the rounds for years, as for me on the 100 limit I set my cruise control for 118 and on the 120 limit 138, so far never had a problem.
