Hi

I have been actively looking for jobs in the UAE for 2 months now. I have applied for about 50/60 jobs and not one person/agency has come back to me. My wife has also applied with no joy.

We are both in very good jobs in the UK with multinational companies. I am in IT and she works in Finance.

We have tried every Jobsite going and neither of us have heard back from anyone in 2 months

is there something we are doing wrong? or is it just fiercley competitive?

any help would be great

Generally during the hottest time of the year (Jun-Aug) most people who live here save their annual holiday and take it all over this period and will leave the UAE for a month or two if not longer. With temperatures reaching 48 degrees you would not want to be here during this time either!

So that is probably your explanation

I am sure you will see things pick up during September when everyone starts returning and then in full swing from October onwards.

Not necassarily, it is fiercely competitive and given the sort of jobs that they're looking for, I hate to say it but you're going up againt thousands of people from the subcontient who will work for a lot less money than someone from the UK would expect for the same job.

Be wary of job sites! There are many scammers out there. Anyone who asks you for a fee up front or of any kind to help you find work is not genuine.

It's much easier to actually be here in Dubai to look for work, as these days many employers like to hire locally.

guys still no joy with this. I was hoping things would pick up at end of august/start of september but doesnt seem to be much out there. Im using Naukri gulf, Gulf Talent, BAYT and Linkedin job sites. is there a job site that i am missing out on?

Keep on your efforts but look for the free classified sites, jobs forum, gulf news and regularly check bayt.com for latest vacancies

Hey dear try to alter your resume, and update it as per DUBAI's requirement. Do the follow up with them. watch out for the walking interviews.

Since most people participating in this thread are already
working in UAE, I wanted your kind guidance to a fellow aspiring worker.

I am expecting to receive a job offer soon. Whilst
interviewing I did not declare one of my previous employers. The employment was
only a few months and I didn’t leave on good terms with that employer.



I wanted to know what
information on past employers does the UAE government request as part of the
work visa/residency visa process. The reason I ask is that I have also
applied for Australian immigration and was afraid that the Australian
immigration department in its background check on me would compare employers
with the UAE government. I am afraid since I have declared all my employers
(including this one) on my Australian immigration application. So when they see
the difference, they might use this as grounds for rejecting my application.
