Head Lice.

Does anyone know how far head lice can jump?

I had a late start at work on Thursday and when I arrived at 10am, a woman who works part time in my office had turned up earlier with her two rather annoying children. I'm not sure why as she wasn't due to be at work that day. I assumed she had brought them in to 'show' them off.

There are only certain kids I take to and hers aren't two of them. They were running around like bloody tasmanian devils, pressing buttons and being generally annoying. Her son, William, ran full pelt into me and head butted me in the crutch. That did not go down well at all.

She finally left taking her offspring with her and everyone started to laugh and started to scratch themselves. I looked blank and someone decided to share the joke with me.

When our work colleague arrived she announced that her two darlings had head lice.

Ever since then I've felt itchy (on my head).

Never having had any experience of head lice, I was wondering how high then can jump?

Well, head lice dont jump I think, but its easy to get them if you come in close contact with someone who has them. Lice are insects, and dont actually cause any disease apart from an itchy scalp. They are also blood-sucking!
A louse (I hope thats the singular form) lives for about 30 days, but the eggs can survive for over 2 weeks. So better sanitize your clothes where the little scoundrel rubbed his head! It may maybe full of lice-eggs
Its awkward when you are having a conversation with someone and spot the critter crawling on her dress

Errrr! I've put my clothes in the washing machine! I bumped the temp up to 50f and used a bio washine powder!

Thank God for reinforced granny pants! There was no way those little buggers were getting thro those. :P

How inappropriate of a work mate to do that! Quite shameful really. I'd be passing around the medicated shampoo just in case. You have to have head to head (as it were) contact for the lcie to move from one person to another. Nasty little critters.

Whats worse than a lobster on your piano?

Crabs on your organ.

Don't worry BMreformed, head lice prefer clean hair.

^you should also not mind being wee'd on, have poo under your finger nails nor mind having sick down your shoulder.
If you don't mind any of that, you will make a top parent.
