Smartphones are becoming the mainstream cameras of choice. Most of the camera developers should be worried about their product landing in the junk drawers with their old mates as smart phones catch up with new features.

For professional photographers, a DSLR will always remain the first choice as the quality of pictures taken by a DSLR will always be far more superior to a smart phone. But for everyone else, the convenience of a smart phone is fast overtaking the quality of a good old point-and-shoot camera.

Both? Having a phone is the pocket all the time makes it an obvious choice, however for special event or travel trips a pro cam makes sense.
