Buying Online - Shipping via Aramex ShopNShip: Reliable? May 31, 2012
Hi guys. I saw a similar thread but it's already 3 yrs old and I'm wondering if things have changed.

I'm planning on buying from Dell's online store in the US and since they only ship locally, I would be using Aramex' ShopNShip I guess.

1. Has anyone had recent experience in a similar scenario?
2. Is ShopNShip reliable?
3. How do I pay Customs charges? Do I need to go to their office or pay directly to Aramex' delivery guy?
4. How much do you think would I be charged by customs for a $2400 laptop?

Thanks in advance!

S&S is great I use it all the time. Duty on luxury goods over $700 I think is 5%. When the item is received in Dubai they sms and email you with the cost of shipping, which I just pay onlone using my credit card. It's all very easy and efficient.

Cool. So I'm not going to interface directly with Dubai Customs then. Thanks Chocoholic! :)

Well yes it still gets stopped at customs and they'll add the duty onto it.

I've used Aramex before, although it was through Souq.com (national site). The service was good, although sometimes they'd keep you on hold for too long.
