So have you applied for your Emirates ID card? Tomorrow May 31st is the final day for applications before the authorities start implementing fines. 20 dhs per day up to a maximum fine of 1,000 dhs.

Do you need an ID Nuts. There only for people who sometimes go out.

Well they're going to start shutting down services, so that you have to have an ID card to do things like register your car, open banks accounts etc. Personally I think it's all a waste of time.

Personally I think it's a good thing and does make things like license renewal etc easier and faster.

I must say though having an EEC passport there are less advantages for us than what others get with passports from small islands etc.

To be perfectly honest Drew in all this time I've never had an ID card, nor have I been asked for one. I'm only doing it now as I want to avoid a fine and kinda hope it does make certain things easier. We shall see Inshallah as they say.

Chocs, I own three cars and register at various times of the year. The last one a few months ago did not happen until I went home for my ID.

I think from June 1st it will become a norm where passports etc used to suffice.

My HR guy has said that The Emirates Identity Authority yesterday announced an extension of the previous deadline until June 30

Yes but still don't leave it to the last minute. They made the extension because their system lept going down.
