Hi Folks, Would appreciate some help in choosing a medical centre for treatment.
I am coming to Dubai on hol for a week in June, the first trip since Arnie passed away. I am now on Kidney Dialysis and am highly likely to have to visit a medical centre for treatment, 3 times during the week. I will be staying at Jumeirah Beach, so travelling distance is something I need to consider, as well as the reputation of the establishment.
The options on offer are:

1, Wellcare Hospital
2. American Hospital
3.Zulekha Healthcare Group

Anyone got any opinions, or know how far they are from Jumeirah?

Well all of them are far, I wouldn't touch wellcare with a barge pole. Zulekha is too far on the edge of Dubai towards Sharjah. I guess that would leave American.

Hey Mrsarnie, soory to hear about that. I'd go the other way - always been to the Welcare, never had any issues, wouldn't touch the American with a barge pole (they managed to miss my friend had a broken neck!!!!) Having said that, can't comment on the dialysis facilities of any of them. They're all a fair distance away.

Hi Kanelli and Chocs, great to hear from you. Yes, all of the kids are coming to Dubai, which will be fantastic. I am really looking forward to it! At the moment I am on Perotineal dialysis, which will mean bringing 80kgs of fluid with me, which I have got all sorted, bet I will have some hassle in customs thou!. However that isn't working very well and they want to put me on to haemo dialysis, which will involve the hospital visits. I am pleading with them to leave me alone until after my trip, but getting some info on facilities, coz if they insist I will have to get it sorted quickly.

Would love to meet up with you Chocs for a drink. Will be in Dubai 13th-21st June.

Hey mrsarnie. Take a look at the link below. It's for City Hospital. I personally give them a good rating. It's been established for several years now. Possibly the fluid you refer to can be supplied by them? Any hospital you go to will require a bit of a trip. It would take you about 20 minutes to get there.

Thumbs down to American Hospital. Welcare is so-so. City is my first choice. It's located opposite Wafi Center.
