9/11

In another thread poster shafique claimed the following:

These terrorists use religion as their reason for killing and blowing up buildings. Many Christians are abhored by this misuse of their religion (as they see it). This is completely analagous to how the Muslims view the fewer 'jihadist' attacks in America.

Really? Because I have not seen one Muslims poster on DF. Not one, saying that 9/11 was executed by Muslims because of misuse of their religion. Care to clarify shaf? Or anybody else?

I have seen conspiracy theories, that it was not Muslims behind it. I have seen explanations that 9/11 was political. I have seen it was because of Israel, but not what Shaf claims.

You really are living in cloud cuckoo land aren't you?

There's a whole thread entitled 'No religious basis for 9/11 - Muslim View':

dubai-politics-talk/religious-basis-for-muslim-view-t42622.html

And who was the first to reply to it - none other than Flying Dutchman.

Your hatred and bitterness is affecting your memory. And it is not as if this is something Muslims have kept hidden, how many threads have there been on the numbers of jihadist attacks in the US and EU vs non-Jihadist attacks?

Cheers,

well FD, on the surface it looks as if it is a jihadist terror but behind the scenes it is a completly different picture..it has been discussed many times before..

Based on this fact it is normal that Shafique continues to comment on the face value of events rather than talking through conspiracies that are not yet confirmed by western authorities, hopefully wikileaks will do that on behalf of them..,

but you should bear in mind that conspiracies are the specific areas where intelligence services are skilled at and work for. You couldn't believe the extent of evil plans and crimes they commit.. Up until 2004,CIA was only accountable to the U.S. president, but due to lack of coordination with FBI, and inability to prevent 9/11, a decision for stronger and coordinated "National Intelligence Coordinating Committee" was taken . Now every chief of the CIA and FBI unit gives report to this commitee every month. And if US courts call to testify, then they have to go.
Since 2002 there have been many lawsuits filed against CIA president and various chiefs regarding claims of torture in Guantanamo and alike chambers all around the world. And suprisingly not one court decision ever went againt CIA. That gives enough clue who took part as perpetrators in 9/11 attacks..
But now the heads and chiefs of CIA and FBI can be interrogated without the permission of US president, that sort of gives a bit of hope for future..

Berrin - the point in the OP is actually that just like there are some Christians who use religion to justify terrorist attacks, whilst the majority of Christians oppose this view - this is the same amongst Muslims.

The Muslims (and Americans etc) that have doubts over whether Al Qaeda committed 9/11 is a separate issue. Just like only a minority of Christians are like eh and support the bombing of civilians over abortion, so there is only a minority of Muslims who support the bombing of civilians in the name of religion. And on 9/11 the thread in the post above clearly shows there's no religious basis for 9/11 (and I do believe al Qaeda was involved/carried out the attacks..)

Thanks for the advice - but you really can't credibly claim ignorance on this topic. I am many things - but I've not been silent on this topic - even you could not have missed this simple, fundamental point.

But, if you are interested in a reasoned discussion - please overlook the highlighted sentence, and I will gladly discuss the issue with you and apologise if I've hurt your feelings. Read through the thread and let's start afresh. Deal?

No need to apologize.

Where in the thread does a Mulsim poster claim that OBL misused Islam?

This is what you claim:

Hadia Mubarak was spot on when she said the reason for 9/11 was poltical according to Bin Laden.

If you claim OBL's reason for 9/11 was political, you claim he wasn't religiously motivated, so couldn't have misused Islam, because he didn't use it in the first place.

There are two aspects to this. The first is that OBL was explicit about his motivations for the attack - and they were political. It wasn't a holy war to impose Islam etc.

Edit - this was also stated explicitly here:
The use of religious rhetoric by Bin Laden and others who share his ideology does not change the fact that their underlying motivation is political, not religious.

The second aspect was OBL using religious justification for the political attack - justifying terrorism for political means, using religion. As the article stated:

While Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri would like us to believe that their actions are divinely sanctioned and religiously ordained, there is no question to anyone who has studied Islam that there is absolutely no basis in Islam for their acts of terror. If one were to search through Islam's primary sources - the Quran and prophetic tradition (hadith) - and all the classical legal texts of Islamic jurists, one could only come to one conclusion: that 9/11 and all acts of terror that inflict violence on innocent people are a violation of Islam.

I think this directly answers your point. If it doesn't, let me know how it doesn't and I'll explain (respectfully).
