eh has dropped his guard and is letting his anti-Paki feelings out. FD is barely suppressing his feelings with the last thinly veiled racist comment about Africa. I suspect the 'nigger' jokes are just bubbling under the surface.. how sad.

Under king Willim III The Kingdom of the Netherlands started with high quality coins. The 5-cent coin (stuiver) was made of 640/1000 silver, while under Willim I this was 569/1000. You are so right there Shafique. But its so hard for some people to outgrow the years of brainwashing they have been subjected to. Its no longer enough to have white skin and be born in a particular place by an accident of birth. If anything, this thread has exposed the bigotry of such people. I have to give you credit Shafique for having stood up against all the shyte. You have shown tolerance and decency when the vilest abuse was hurled at you. You are the better person in my book. Well done. I hope most of your countrymen (and I mean British people) are 'decent human beings', like you. Then that country has some hope

It is always a challenge to decide whether to ignore or stand up to the bigotry. The open bigotry of herve is sometimes easier to deal with than the thinly veiled vile hatred shown by event horizon, Flying Dutchman and Bethsmum - but it is never far from the surface. I don't always get the balance right, but I try to speak out against injustice generally.

I'm reminded of the quote by Martin Niemöller (a German priest):
