Wavelet Scalar Quantization

I have read somewhere that Wavelet Scalar Quantization is a compression algorithm which is used for grayscale fingerprint images. It is used by FBI. Can anyone throw some more light on it and grayscale fingerprint images?

Yes, it is used by the FBI. WSQ is most common algorithim for compressing fingerprint images. You can find the complete standard at NIST website. It seems I can't post a link but google for "NIST wsq" and you will find it.

Its a kind of security for fingerprint compression by FBI. As mentioned "NIST wsq" I got much more information writing this in Google and I think it's good concept for FBI.
