BM's Trip To Dubai. Jan 25, 2012
BM has returned from the naughty chair and her trip to Dubai!

So how are things on DF? Have I missed anything? I see my little munchkin popped in to enquire how many times I’d been banned but that topic seems to have disappeared! And I didn’t even get the chance to comment. :(

So how is everyone? Rudeboy has made a reappearance! I’m still waiting for him to be rude. I see Herve hasn’t decided to rejoin us. That’s sad. Have we decided if the Palestinians exist yet ?

I see Ben’s back and so is the Ambassador. Where’ve you two been? And where ever it was, I hope you had a good Christmas!

I have to say I enjoyed my trip to Dubai. I haven’t been for about four months but found the place looking great. I do love Dubai although someone could have ordered a bit warmer weather for me. Brrrrrrr.

I finally reclaimed my flat from the outgoing tenant and apart from a couple of light bulbs needing changing and having to purchase two new access cards at dhs250 each (WTF?) from Taziz, who used to be Idama, who used to be DAM, who started off as Dubai Properties, all was well in JBR. The place is buzzing and the Walk seems to be the place to go for everyone and his Aunty.

Accompanying me on my trip was the beautiful Beth and my dad. My dad loves cricket and I decided to treat him to five days at the Pakistan v England Test Match. I wasted my money on the last two days as we had our bottoms well and truly kicked by those Pakistani boys. What a fantastic stadium the cricket one is! It seated 25,000 so there was no rush for the bar for the 1000 supporters who turned up. My mind wondered quite a bit during the game, as I’m not such a big supporter as BM’s dad. Beer was dhs30 a pint so that kept me occupied and so did watching Stuart Broad’s bum through the binoculars. We decided to leave a little early to miss the crowds but so did 750 other supporters and the queue for the taxis was a mile long. There was only one problem, there weren’t any taxis! We stood and stood and the occasional one turned up. Not known for my patience, I walked along the road and flagged a taxi down and instructed him to pull up at the front of the queue where I waved my dad to the front. There were a few open mouths but needs must, I had an evening meet to make! The RTA got there act together on the second day! Better late than never I suppose.
I didn’t go to the cricket again with my dad, I’ve decided I prefer the highlights on Sky Sports.

It was lovely to meet up with friends, old and new. I think my dad kept people entertained. Isn’t that right Bora? We had our very own little DF meet up :D

Mr Emirati treated me to a couple of evenings out at the Royal Mirage. I think that is my favourite hotel. The surroundings are lovely the service is excellent. Mr Emirati was his usual immaculately turned out self. Those Arab men sure smell good! We had Friday breakfast at le Pain Quotidian on the Walk. They serve the most delicious omelettes and bread, it’s well worth a visit if you are in the area, there’s one in Emirates Mall too. It was Mr Emiratis birthday but it was spoilt when someone hit his lovely Mercedes whilst he was in the bank. I know I shouldn’t laugh, he was not amused! They bashed into it and drove away. So it happens in Dubai too.

Well our little holiday soon came to an end and we boarded our A380 care of Air France and headed home. My beautiful Beth confided in me that she felt funny. I discovered that it wasn’t ‘ill’ funny when her eyes filled up with tears. She didn’t want to leave! She has a few local friends and I think one has stolen her heart. She buried her face in her scarf and when she came up for air, her face was covered in snot. Not a good look Beth. Well we had a talk and she came round and blew her nose and it wasn’t that bad after all.
The flight back was a bit bumpy and we changed planes at CDG to a little Airbus thingy. The weather wasn’t very good at all and we were being thrown about a bit. We came to land at Manchester and about 30 feet from the ground; the pilot aborted the landing and took off again. Well scarey! It was Beth’s turn to comfort me then.
I’m already pricing flights for our Easter trip. As usual I will be ripped off for travelling at holiday times.
I can’t wait to get back to Dubai.

Welcome back BM. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time away.

Whats with the English and not going to support their cricket team? I suppose more would have gone on the weekend but none that I spoke to seemed that interested anyway.

Tell Beth to pull herself together and go out and find a handsome, strapping young English man for herself instead.

Thanks FD! It's good to be back on DF :D I just have to watch my P's and Q's and stay away from you know who in Politics  I'll never learn. BTW I read your about your experience with the Dutch lady on the prostitute topic. Only you FD, only you

I don't know why that is ben, as we are supposed to have the best team in the world at the moment. I was surprised at the lack of support at the match too. We were in the posh seats (dhs100) and it was full, mostly of English people who were following the team around. There was a lot of retired people who obviously followed the test matches and had come over from the UK. They had their sandwiches and newspapers with them. And there was the Barmy Army. The lone trumpeter was there, despite the ban on musical instruments. He played 'Jerusalem' a few times which got a rousing response. Security sent someone up to tell him to shut up and the poor security man was booed so much , he just retreated to the taunts of 'you're getting sacked in the morning!' The was a very amusing moment when an old Pakistani man, dressed in his local dress, long white beard and green baseball cap, did a jig to the tume of the trumpet. It was all good fun!

She'll survive ben, I've told her men are like buses, none and then two come along together.
I have to say I quite like the young local lads. They are all well turned out and very well mannered. I'm not that bothered about Beth finding a strapping young English man at the moment, I'd rather she stayed in and kept her old mum company :P

Was good to see you as well BM. Sorry for the time restrictions. Hubby back to work and know what to expect, unlike when he is home I never know what to expect!!!!

You dad kept me very entertained. I would love to see a few on DF go head to head with him. They wouldn't survive his honesty and bluntness.  He would put them in their place and bury them in a heartbeat!!!

Will definitely make more time for your next trip.
