Well it’s all around us and I’m frankly amazed, that no reference has been posted from any of the Emiratis who frequent the site, on the 40th Anniversary celebrating the birth of the UAE.

Congratulations, and long may the UAE continue.

It is amazing how the UAE developed in 40 years to what it is today. Congratulations to all our Emirati brothers and sisters.

I bought 2 flags and put them on my car. I felt so good doing that - a show of respect for, in spite of the ups and downs, a country that has given me a wonderful lifestyle and to the Emirati friends that I have made over the years.

I had my dad for tea today. I mean he came over, I didn't eat him.
Over roast beef and a glass of Chardonnay he was reminising about the 13 months he was posted to RAF Sharjah in 1968/9.
Quite unbelievable to think how the UAE has progressed in the last 40 years.
He has the most annoying habit of calling Dubia 'Jewbai' which always makes me smile.
At least he doesn't still call it the arsehole of the world which is how he thought of it back then.
I've converted him and he loves the place nearly as much as me now.

I stumbled accross a national day parade and classic car show at Dubai Mall, which was a nice surprise.
The only downside was the Events Staff Managament who looked like complete knobs riding around on their segways and trying to look important.
