Provide a satisfactory definition of a bigot that covers race, religion, ethnicity, s.e.xual orientation, nationality, etc., and we'll see if a follower of Islam would by definition be a bigot.

I'm going out on a limb and saying a devout Muslim is bigoted against homosexuals and non-Muslims, by definition.

Be sure to first starch your white sheets and polish your jackboots and we'll await your definition to tell you if you're a bigot.

By strict definition yes you are right a devout Christian is a bigot in the same way that a Muslim is. All well and good couldn't care less about these peoples opinions. As we all like to say everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but please keep it to yourself or seek out others with the similar opinion and all get together and slap each other on the back telling each other how superior you are because you are doing it all the right way and everybody else is wrong (Churches and Mosques are here for that very purpose). The problems arise when it stops being merely an opinion, when we are told what to think wear and how to behave to fit in not with legal parameters but because of some religious opinion.

Dude, I guess you have tunnel vision and in need of glasses because obviously you can't read the fine print.

I don't object nor support BM and her opinions. On the other hand you support Shaf and your silence on Shaf's position on many things can say alot about you. If you had to distinguish between the two I would say BM is the racist and Shaf is the bigot. Personally I think one can exchange views with a racist much more easier than a bigot who has a closed mind and is set in their beliefs and tries to convince and impose those beliefs on others. If you haven't noticed, you are the only person who appears to support Shaf while others share the same opinion of him.

No 2 is pretty plain and simple and in my opinion, defines Shaf.

I think you need to understand the difference. Shaf wants to forcefeed his beliefs and reasoning down other peoples throats, whereas BM voices her personal opinion on races and religion.

I know BM and she has a wicked sense of humor and loves to wind people up - especially people who fall for it over and over and over. She has friends from the very races and religions she takes shots at. (Pakistanis, Muslims and Arabs) When we get together we have never talked about race and religion, but should the subjects come up, I'm sure opposite views would be exchanged without pushing our own opinions down the other persons throat.

If someone never uttered a derogatory remark against a race, a religion, a nationality, a lifestyle then they are one of a very few. That would also include "thinking" something that was derogatory. Even the slightest negative remark, either full blown are a hint, can be deemed racist.

I learned that referring to a person by their nationality or religion is very common in Dubai, something not done back in the States. I have also learned that when one makes a negative comment and it refers to "Indians", "Americans/Yanks", "Brits", "Egyptians", "Arabs", "Pakistanis", "locals", people are not making a blanket statement and referring to ALL. You have made negative comments about "locals", but I'm sure you weren't referring to ALL locals as you have good local friends.

Now, I have other things to worry about, such as America's national food - hamburgers and fries - may be replaced with "taco kabobs". Why is that? Well Obama wants to by pass laws and Congress and give citizenship to millions of illegals, as long as they don't have a police record or are deemed a threat to America. The majority of those millions are Mexicans, Columbians and Arabs. I don't have anything against any of them, they just happen to be the majority who broke the law and entered or stayed in the US illegally. The same way that England's national food, which was always fish and chips, has been replaced by curry. That's just the way it is.

I have never read where BM was forcefeeding her beliefs on anyone. What she does is voice her opinion. Where has she pushed it down other people's throat? She has also explained why she feels the way she does.

So you read 100% of BM's posts, but 10% of Shafs? I find it hard to believe that you don't read Shaf's posts, but giving you the benefit of doubt, you would be in a better position to comment on others if you did. I think you know me well enough as to my position on racism. I take one person at a time, regardless of their nationality, race, religion, lifestyle. God says "There is no compulsion in Religion" in the Quran - so, yes - you are free to choose to live your life like you want to. If you want to call yourself a Muslim - the strict definition is that you only need to declare that 'There is no god but God and Muhammad is His Messenger'.

I see that from reading 10% of his posts you did pick up on the obvious. An opinion is just that - an opinion. One doesn't have to substantiate their opinion to be credible. With Shaf there are only two opinions that count - his and those who agree with him, which, if you read his posts, most people don't.

When it comes to "facts" one can always find two sides to any issue, which creates debate and does not prove anyone right or wrong, but Shaf consistently attempts to prove people wrong and the only facts that count are those that he provides, when it's convenient.

Have to say, you are like Herve with a bone when it comes to BM.

I'm not sure that it's a good analogy. Gorging on and wasting tonns of food after 7 PM is not healthy according to research of many dietitions. My experience confirms that if I eat after 6 PM heavy food I start freshing out.

On the other hand I can treat most locals at the age above 40 as fat members of the gym and recent research (available on DF) shows very high obesity rate for locals, espesially women.

I just wonder if it's a casual coincident.
