Talk about irony.

Policeman pulls over woman and asks for her drivers licence.
Policeman asks her to remove her veil so he can identify her as the person on the licence.
Woman refuses to remove veil and accuses policeman of being racist.
Policman issues fine to woman for not displaying 'P' plates (similar to 'L' plates).
Woman raises complaint against policeman accusing him of forcibly removing her burqua.
Internal investigation (in car camera) finds that womans claims are false.
Police charge woman for making false accusation.
Judge finds woman guilty.
Woman appeals on the grounds that the police couldn't be sure that it was her making the false accusation, due to her wearing a burqua.
Woman is set free

I'm extremely against that full cover thing. Religion urges to act with proper ethics and morals, and not to cheat! Moreover, its more likely culture based than religion. I think there should be STRICT laws with regard to identifying people to governmental authorities for security reasons and stuff. I don't think a proper cleric would argue with such laws at all. Its those people who just manipulate with it for meaningless purposes.

She's been set free DDS.

I also didn't fail to notice that the people protesting and chanting "Allah Akbar" outside court were all men?

These women are very lucky to have such husbands to stand up for their rights.

+1 Its actually disgusting to see the "celebration" going on in the picture. Like I said they give the rest of us normal folk a bad name ! Whats there to celebrate ? That you cheated people and manipulated laws. Scum really.

Total bollocks. It should be illegal to wear a burqa whist driving anyway as it must impair peripheral vision.

This is just manipulation of the system which works because people are terrified of upsetting a bunch of assholes shouting Allah w Akbar.

Agree with DDS and Sym - this is dis.gusting.

To be so cynical (and not to mention rude) and to have your friends celebrate this - dis.gusting. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Totally covering the face is indeed cultural - and being rude from behind the veil makes a mockery of the veil itself - it is supposed to be a sign of modesty!

Goes to show - criminal numpties exist in all communities!

Congratulations on everyone's restraint - no one's mentioned lady drivers... yet. :D

Cheers,
Shafique

The second link is even more outrageous that now they are thinking if using finger printing to accomadate those idiots. Why ? This is PC gone too far ! Seriously if your so scared of your modesty being ruined better stay home then !

Hmmm...now that whole saudi ban on women driving staring to make sense. If there is no way to check the ID of these visually impaired drivers. I guess its better to blanket ban than to risk ordinary users to such danger. I can only imagine the implicaton if a male officer asked to remove a veil in Saudi ! Would land up on chop chop square next week !

P.S : for all the feminist activists out there, I was being sarcastic ! :D

What a good moral muslim woman she is.

I guess when Australia takes the initiative to ban face veils ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the women and men who will think it as prejudice and suppression of "religious" practice, which wearing a veil is, as Shaf said, cultural, not religious, can thank her and her cheering section. I hope Australia takes that route rather than the fingerprinting.

They should have just stuck with their original sentencing.

People like that are such a disgrace to humanity in general.
