On the alcohol licence it says copy of:

- photocopy of your tenancy contract

Do we honestly need this? There could be many reasons why one would not have this.. I'm subletting my place till october so I can't use the original landlords contract i'm sure..

You need to be a little careful here!

Yes, you need to provide a copy of your Tenancy Contract.

Only one family is allowed to live at any one address in Dubai so you cannot claim to be staying anywhere other than a relatives dwelling.

You would have to provide proof of your relationship with the signatory on the Tenancy Contract copy you intend to provide if it is not your own.

Yes, you can take the risk and buy alcohol on the black market in Dubai and adjacent emirates, the choice and risk is entirely yours! Possession and or consumption without a license, would attract up to a AED 5,000 fine and deportation if cought.

The subject has been covered extensively on the forum, a blind eye is turned to the practice until you are found in possession or have consumed alcohol while for example you are involved in a disturbance, argument, RTA or any other situation where the police get involved, then you need the license.

Thats the thing.. I know a couple of people who just went to MMI without a licence and bought without issue..

Bought illegally if taken into the Dubai Emirate.

No, they bought it in Dubai without a licence..

If one of your friends has a license ask them if you can make a purchase on their license. If you have friends traveling into Dubai ask them to pick it up at duty free upon arrival.
