Saudi Woman Celebrates Divorce

JEDDAH, 24 July 2005 — Many Saudi ladies who were invited to a big party in a popular hotel in Jeddah were surprised to find that the party was about celebrating divorce, Al-Watan daily reported. They thought that the party was simply a social occasion but discovered it was not. The divorced woman invited more than 600 women to celebrate her getting divorced from her drug addict husband. The manager of the hotel could not hide his surprise saying that it was the first time that the hotel organized such an event.

Kid, western women having been doing that long before 2005. It's a tradition now!!!!

Of course and it's probably a big two fingers up to an instistution that frowns on divorce. If he was a drug user, chances are he was a lousy husband and maybe abusive also. Power to the woman, but as BB says we've been doing this for years. Nothing new.

He must have been a pretty terrible husband for her to do that. Usually people may separate and divorce because of drug or alcohol problems, but the spouse feels sad that they lost the person they once loved to addiction, so there is still some sympathy there. Obviously this woman had no sympathy for her husband!
