Got my water cut off by Dewa, called them and discovered a few things. One the water account still isn't in my name even though I applied to have it connected in February. Second, the previous owner has an outstanding bill of over 9000 AED just for water. OK, that seems strange - DEWA technicians came out and turned the water back on straight away.

A few days later a Dewa person comes to my house knocks on my door and asks me if I'm using water because my meter is running. I wasn't using any water. He knows exactly what the problem is, he walks into my bathroom, stands on the bath lifts one ceiling tile (he already knows which one) and turns off one valve (he already knows which one). This water running noise that had constantly been in my appartment since I moved in stops. He also mentions that I had a water bill of over 7000 AED for the current month.

I called the building owner and told him what happened and said I may want him to pay for the water bill if DEWA insist on collecting payment. He was very negative and insisted that this was DEWA's problem - definately not his.
