Any (road) cyclists here? I saw a few brave cyclists on the way to Dubai Friday morning at around ~07:00ish on the main highway!!! I guess that's the only time the roads are empty. I'm beginning to think Dubai would probably be the best place to do a time trial when the weather is just about right - flat and straight roads.

What other road biking events take place?

What other bike shops are there aside from the ones on Shaykh Zayeed Road.

Nope no cyclist here, other than a few devout fans and a some forced to use them. Try cycling in 50+ C temps. Plus city and roads not at all cyclist friendly and don't expect

A few cycling clubs do exist though. And once in a blue moon when one is travelling outside the city a bunch of cyclists with support crew will be slowing down traffic and generally making a nuisance of themselves so I guess there are some events here, but none during the 9 month long summer.

P.S : You seemed to be a bit mesmerised and smitten with Dubai from your recent visit, but read around here througly and know what your really getting into.

DD, what rubbish! There is a HUGE cycling community, many train for races and the triathlons. They're normally out Friday mornings going for 100 km rides across trh Emirates or can be found training around the Ghantoot area.

Contact the guys at Wolfies Bike Shop, they can give you all the details.

Friday mornings around Nad Al Sheba is bike city. They ride from the race track, up to Al Khail Road and then back via the Al Ain Road.

Hundreds of them, like a river of brightly coloured lycra and shaved legs!

Like I said I saw them buzzing about outside city limits on the weekends but thought it was usually a one off kind of thing. Bah ! Anyways

Fellow Cyclists, what's the most cycle friendly Emirate? Are the streets, quite literally, empty around 5-6am? When do things start to get busy?
