Is it just me, or isn't that a rather shocking figure?

i have noticed that a few fathers let their kid sit on their lap while they drive!!

Should take the bus.

No, not shocking to me at all. When I lived in the UAE, I saw how children were riding in cars!

I've even seen some drivers put their babies on their lap, behind the steering wheel, while driving on busy roads.

Or allow their children to stick their heads out of the car window, while driving at high speeds on the highway.

I tell you, I have seen a lot of unbelievable stuff!!!!!

No wonder!!!

Same old story unfortunately K. Everyday I see cars where the adults are wearing seatbelts, yet the children are roaming freely about the car. They won't learn until something happens.

I had a close encounter with a blacked out Corvette a few years ago in Mirdif. Speeding at night, no lights on, 90% tint on the windows, weaving in and out of the traffic and tailgating people. When he was stopped at the traffic lights I happened to be next to him, I beeped at him really to tell him about his lack of lights.

The window rolled down and it was a local guy...with his 2 year old son sitting in his lap using the steering wheel!

Nothing I could say would make him repentant, he just rolled up the window and sped away.

They just say 'Inshallah' - well if they won't learn, I say leave them to it! Darwins theory of evolution - cleansing the gene pool by taking themselves and their offspring out of it.

Where in the article did it say it was Emiratis that were responsible for the death of the children? I have seen different nationalities driving with kids loose in the car, and I'm sure they aren't saying "Inshallah".

Of course it isn't all Emiratis. Many do say Inshallah about it. If there is an accident, it is God's will who lives and dies. Ridiculous.
