Could someone pretty please message me and do me a really really easy numpty guide to this torrents thing for a complete knob & idiot - me

There is such i dont get. I have download the Software from Bittorrent.com. ok so far, now it says i have to search for Torrents to load into it. I have read the help guides and FAQ's etc and i still dont get them.

First - WTF are they talking about.

do i find 1, 10 or 1000 or is 1 enough ??

Where do i get these "torrents ?

Are there certain torrents for certain categorys ie Music etc ??

Anyway if any of you super IT whizo's out there is able to help me it would be really aprreciated

After reading the feedback and reviews, select the most suitable offering from the list, bearing in mind the more seeds there are the faster the download.

Clock on the Download.torrent button and your bit torrent programme will start

Accept and confirm the download directory and confirm the download.

Most of the time, I use MIRC which in my opinion is much better than torrents. Its pretty easy to use as you will just need to install a software called MIRC, go on search engines search for the file you need, click on the link and your download will start.

This is the sequence to downloading torrents:-

1) I'm assuming you've downloaded bittorrent and have installed it on ur PC

2) Go to the desired webpage (isohunt, piratebay...)

3) Search and select the desired content

4) Create a folder on ur desktop titled Torrents

5) Download the selected content which will be a .torrent file into the torrent folder. This should take only a few seconds.

6) Open the BitTorrent client

7) Go to File - Add Torrent - and then select the .torrent file from the torrent folder

It'll then begin downloading

9) If it doesn't then reconfigure ur firewall or antivirus which might be blocking it.

When ur on the webpage let's say pirate bay, select those files which have more seeders than leechers. Cos leechers slow down the downloads. And that's it. Once you d/l a few you'll get the hang of it.
And before selecting a torrent go through the comments, which basically validates the quality of the torrent.

Is there a torrent for say every individual song or can you use 1 torrent for everything.

For example making a CD of 20 different songs would mean 20 torrents in your file ?

From what I understand, the music torrents are usually albums, not songs.I am guessing you download the whole album then delete the songs you don't want. How did you get on Arnie? The key to DLing torrents is ensuring that there are lots of "seeds"..these are the people you are downloading from. A torrent with a handful of seeds will never complete.

Did you figure out the torrent/client/tracker thing yet? If you are looking for a movie (.avi file) or a song (.mp3 file). when you download the .torrent file from the tracker (Isohunt, Brittorrents, UKtorrent, etc.) it makes the .avi or .mp3 file in the folder you selected and gets the "pieces" from the other "peers" or "seeds"....the more seeds, the faster it will go (also depends on your connection. Utorrent or Bittorent is the "client" that ties it all together.

Keep in mind, certain sites are better for different things (movies, music, TV), so have a browse. We have a variety of sites we use to find our torrents.

Not really. If you have installed Bittorrent, you just need to find a site that has the shows you want. As far as loading into Bittorrent, when you download the torrent file (the one that takes a second or so)...just right click and open it with Bittorrent if it does not automatically open with it.

But this is so so wrong, this is stealing from the hard working artist such as the Michael Jackson estate.

No torrent needed just type in the song, artist, movie, book etc etc in search and click to download.

i dont think its wrong because its just like listening to the song on the radio and recording it!


but I do know that the likes of napster and limewire have been taken to court for distributing music and other files!
