Women publicly flogged for selling food in Ramadan!!! Oct 02, 2010
Two women were publicly caned in Indonesia’s staunchly Muslim Aceh province on Friday (yesterday) for selling food during the fasting hours of Ramadan, thereby violating Islamic sharia law.

I know that only eating is forbidden in Ramadan (during daytime) but selling!!???

This is absolutely outrageous!!!

Explain this, Shaf!

Bloody outrageous - there's no Islamic ruling saying that selling food during Ramadhan is forbidden.

I did a quick Google search and couldn't (immediately) find a news source for this story (a few blogs certainly are carrying it, saying they got three lashes).

In August they flogged 5 people, for crimes such as gambling and adultery:

Thanks - so selling rice at noon is a crime in Banda Aceh - and the sentence is 2 lashes. Stupid law, stupid people.
