Re: The Universe Can And Will Create Itself From Nothing
Sep 14, 2010
Chev started it there... and there they stayed.
Anyway, we can still discuss Hawking's theory here if you wish.. I've always maintained that I don't have enough faith to be an atheist and this new theory doesn't change that position.
I do believe that there is a very remote probability that the laptop I'm working on was created by a freak tornado ripping through a junk yard -but the probability is too low for me to think it a likely outcome. I can't prove that it wasn't created out of nothing and just coincidentally looks like other created objects... as I can't prove that we weren't all created 5 minutes ago with ready-made memories.
So, a theory that says the universe could have started without a creator for the universe/laws of nature is an interesting one, but one that requires faith to believe as truth (until we get some scientific verification of the theory).
Cheers,
Shafique
