I would like to share a situation happened with me last night , so it will an experience for ppl living here in Dubai , last night i was driving from Wafi to Lamcy with my GF late arround 2 A.M , and in the Dubai Medical City a police car stopped us ..
Hello 'police man said '
i replied : Hello
he said : your ID .
i showed , he s askin for my G.F ID , i showed too .
he s askin me : whos this lady for you ?
i replied : my GF
huh , your GF? , he replied , so she s not a relative , a family or wife ?
i replied : No , she s my GF ONLY
emm , and why you commin from here , from wer you commin now , he asked .
i told him : can you abbreviate wat is the deal here ? ,
he said : you r two and alone in a car , and the devil is the third ." this is wat prophet mohammed said "
"now hardly i can control my self , otherwise iam trying to be wise .."
told him : wat this means now ?
he replied : ' you dont believe wat prophet mohammed said ?"
uh my gush , i replied : i believe its not how you got , maybe prophet mohammed ment two at a home , two at office , but not two on the road.. but this is really how arabs thinking , a woman+ a man = sex .even if we were driving in a road ? .
he said : i promise i will release you !!! , but i want you to tell me somthing , if you r in my shoes , wat you would do ? ,
i answered : you will , you will release us coz u dont have somthing for us , and if u have do ur best now .
he gave the ID's after successfuly he disturbed us , while he s writing our names ( huh ) .. i really had a bad idea now about Dubai through such a person , and who knows maybe all most the same.....
this experience i trnsfered honestly for every body doesnt know how s the stuff going on here arround , as an expected bad situation it might happen for any body any time .

As you should well know, men and women who are not married or related to each other are not supposed to be in each other's company without an escort, it is frowned upon. You don't suppose that the police realize that sometimes couples use the "privacy" of their cars for something other than just driving?

And he's taken your names, so now he's going to go and check if you're living together illegally as you're not married!

Is that why there are so many swerving cars on the SZR?

I will need to make sure when I try it I can miss the barriers and finish before intersection 2.

Any tips anyone?

Not being funny or anything, but what's your nationality? That could well affect whether the Police stop you, or just let you drive on by. We all know that certain nationalities will probably get bothered more by the police in a situation like this.....

FYI, i had my first dealings with Dubai police the other night, including 2+ hours in Bur Dubai police station, and the officers dealing with the matter were great. Can't fault them at all. They were polite, respectful, and even had a sense of humour. I have no complaints (but then again i never did anything wrong!)

LOL, now I can imagine the little faces on the labourers bus if they saw that on the SZR.

There would be shouts of "pull over", or maybe the "over" was lost in the translation.

Is this a reason behind the heavily tinted screens?

I was in my car, and I was driving along, and my boss rang up, and he said 'You've been promoted.' And I swerved. And then he rang up a second time and said "You've been promoted again.' And I swerved again. He rang up a third time and said 'You're managing director.' And I went into a tree in the middle of SZR. And a Dubai policeman came up and said 'What happened to you?' In Dubai I dunno, but is sharjah I know people who have. I think its more closer to Iran so the effect whiffs over

lol, yeah maybe, although in Iran there is no law abt it too, but they dont need law for the arrests!

Oh I thought it was law in Iran.

nopes, not just this, lots of other things which government or revolution guard does is against the constitution.

2007, Grosvenor House, at night waiting for my car, I saw a couple arrested by the locals Starsky & Hutch, in front of everybody, they asked the guy who was the young woman with him, he was so pissed and the woman so embarrassed, he said she was his wife, had to flip their ID's. The cops left with no apologies, nothing.
