Hi everyone, I had a trip to dubai few days ago and it totaly changed my view about locals. Had visited some locals and their families and they were totally sweet,fun and have great hospitality! ( even more than us Iranians! )

Well I should confess that I have pre judged them before! Some of them are smart, educated and fun!

Hospitality is a commom must to do tradition among Iranians, Arabs, Turks, and other neighbouring eastern nations. And the more hospitable people to you, the more they actually like & respect you

In each and every nation you'll see good and bad individuals, and as once a good friend translated me a song that says "We're not friends with jerks, nor enemies with friends" .. Im so glad you had a great time over here

A lot of the locals you meet or see everyday appear to be cold and distant. Some even appear smug and stuck-up.

However, once you get to know them personally, most are warm and very pleasant. The locals in the smaller communities are usually friendly and hospitable, even to strangers. Undoubtedly, you will run into bad apples here and there!!!

I’ve also noticed that the older Emiratis are generally friendlier than the younger ones!!!

I'm glad you had the opportunity to enjoy local hospitality firsthand as well as the company of locals. Mel, there are many smart, educated locals. And fun is part of their nature. I didn't realize that you had a preconceived opinion, which I gather you may have drawn from DF and one person in particular. I'm so glad someone gave you the opportunity to change your views.

And if you do get the chance to attend a wedding, Go!!! as it is quite a celebration and a great experience.

My past opinions about locals, was formed from our past histroy with Arabs and Islam and some people on the forum was proving that opinion as well. But now I totally feel different and I have told my family and friends the different side of locals which I found recently.

(I really hope u enjoying nuts!! See u soon again hopefully! )

Hey Mel you hear of the so called Law of Averages?
I'll elaborate,the law of averages is a lay term used to express a belief that outcomes of a random event shall "even out" within a small sample.

As invoked in everyday life, the "law" usually reflects bad statistics or wishful thinking rather than any mathematical principle. While there is a real theorem that a random variable will reflect its underlying probability over a very large sample, the law of averages typically assumes that unnatural short-term "balance" must occur.

To further simplify, it basically say's that after a 100 bad eggs ur bound to find 1 good egg, but to expect the next 100 to all be good, hon that's wishful thinking.
Now I ain't suggesting anytin Mel, but just sayin, before you scream from rooftops, it might be a better idea to increase the sample,...just saying

Many locals are very pleasant and nice, sadly it's the idiot ones that give the rest a bad name, and even other arab nationalities pretending to be Emirati that act in the bad ways.

guys this puddy cat knows everything about dubai, who is local and who aint and who is and isnt complimenting you. Oh yeh and if you are stuck in some dodgy relationship and need advice you will find this agony aunt very helpful.
