I just got delivery of my car and although window tinting is not my style, I've been told that it gets extremely hot in Dubai and it would help.

I've noticed quite a variety of different "Burkamobiles" around town (dark tint so that you can only see from the front) but I am not sure what ther "rule" is regarding the allowable degree of "obscurity". Of course the Sawta guys will tell you that whatever they sell is "ok" and the dealer wants to sell you the most expensive installation.

Anyone know the rules.

I would suggest that you go to a reputable place for tinting. The first time I had it done in Satwa - what a crap job. Ended up looking like bubble wrap on my front and rear windows!! Then I went to Eppco and had it done there. They removed the crap tinting and did a good job replacing it, which came with a warranty. The tinting they use is 3M. It was well worth the cost. I didn't find it overly expensive.

Women drivers generally get away with the extreme tinting. (I don't want men looking at me thing)

The petrol station will tell you what is allowed. I would stick with that. You never know, they just might wake up one day and enforce an existing law, which is to fine everyone that has tinting above the allowance. You can ask if you can put darker tinting on the side windows, and possibly the rear window, keeping a lighter tint on the front window. You would put up the visor on the front window when not using the car.

Thanks. Yeach they did not lool professional at law and where just doing the work on the pavement. Do you know what % is allowed?

Thanks. Where does the 30% come from? Rule/law? I can't get a straight answer.

30% is the rule and the law. no reference. If you dont believe us then i think you should "trust us" and go out and get it "verified". Otherwise go for more then 30% and get it verified and let us know what happens

Just check with the petrol station.

No the reason I ask is because I've seen many Burkamobiles where you can't see a thing inside (some are even mirror like). I even so one that was more than a Burkamobile, it was tinted all around. Hence the questions as clearly not all of them are compliant with 30% "Law". Just looking for a reference to a law/rule, etc. so I don't go wasting my money or end up in a cell next to the guy from Ajman allegedly caught drinking in his own house (the horror !!!).

Maximum30% is the law, you can get it done by 3m with a certificate, you would be wise to keep away from the "Satwa Guys"
No tinting is allowed on the windscreen apart from the upper section which is normally factory applied by the vehicle manufacterer.
