Student Driver Fined Dh356,000!

15 February 2010, DUBAI — A Dubai university student who had chalked up 400 traffic violations since 2008 and had been giving the police the slip was finally caught and fined a whopping Dh356,000.

“A meticulous investigation finally netted the culprit. It took us four days to track down his 4X4 and seize it,” said Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafin.

The student, an Arab national, will have to now cough up Dh256,000 for normal traffic violations.

Another Dh100,000 will have to be paid for violations that require the immediate seizure of the car.

This fine stands until his uncles cousins' brother in law who is married toooo the wife of her second cousins brothers uncle who is a high up official in the Traffic Department and if he cant "write off" his fines, then the officials third cousins brothers uncles nephew will do it because he is a high ranking official in the Police.

If the fines are outstanding from 2008, so how did he register the car in 2009 ?? Ahhh, probably the registration was done by a friend of the man next door who has a brother, whose daughters cousins husband uncle who worked at the RTA.

What an embarrassing cousin!!! Huh????

No… seriously…he is not from here. It says he’s an Arab national. So he might not have any cousins working at the Dubai Traffic Dept.

Is that why we heard about him in the first place????

It’s also possible that he had not renewed his registration for 2009!!

if its a 'foreigner' then they are very quick to say, 'british' 'bahrani' 'pakistani' etc, im guessing they are local and its spin.

I agree, anyone other than a local would have had action taken against them at a much lower amount.

Also, if the fines were o/s from 2008 and If he never renewed his registration in 2009, then when was it renewed ?
