I Have applied and posted my CV on many job sites as well as recruitment agencies in dubai but with no positive feedback. How else can I land a job in marketing in Dubai? How are opportunities now with the recession?

in general still in terrible situation, not many vacancies despite repeating ads on newspaper and job sites. but sales/marketing should be ok, especially you're south african ("westerner"). best bet if you can come here on visit.

Thank you. Are you currently in Dubai? what position might you be in. How do you suggest I land a job because coming there for a few weeks will be costly. Thanks again

yes i've been in dubai since few years. i'm still looking for a job (IT mgr, project mgr, consultant, or similar role, with specialisation in retail & supply chain) as well since made redundant few months ago. that's why i know how it is difficult, at least for my position & industry (mid-level). i compete with folks who are willing to get paid cheaply. i don't speak arabic and am not "westerner", so those make it even more difficult, despite many years of experience and excellent skills.

unless it's a specific role, most companies prefer to interview & select candidates who are in the country as they don't need to spend tickets and relocation. but there are hundreds or maybe thousands lining up here now.

It's almost impossible to get a job in this situation if you're not physically present in Dubai ! Coming here on visit is the best bet.
